Adams, John Quincy. Memoirs of John Quincy Adams. Comprising portions of his diary from 1795 to 1848. Edited by Charles Francis Adams. Philadelphia, J.B.Lippincott & Co., 1874. 8°. 551, 662, 566, 533, 542, 548, 547, 548, 551, 546, 546, 536 pages. Original cloth. The binding of nine volumes in good condition. Three volumes need extreme external repair (bindings detached etc.). All the volumes are bumped at spinetop overhangings as well as lower spinetops, leading to loss of the cloth (approx. 1 inch). A common problem with this set. Volume two has been unprofessionally rebound at some stage, using the original boards. All three frontispieces included in the set. Very few dampstains only . Internally in very good, partly unopened condition. With some bookbinder-attention this remarkable set will come to life again. The price is reflecting the condition. Images upon request.
